# What You'll Need:

→ Burger Patties

01 - 450 g ground chuck beef
02 - 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce, tomato-based
03 - 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
04 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
05 - 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

→ Finishing & Assembly

06 - 2 slices pepper jack cheese
07 - 2 hamburger buns, toasted
08 - Barbecue sauce, for topping
09 - Desired burger toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, etc.)

# Step-by-Step Directions:

01 - Preheat a gas or charcoal grill, configuring one side for direct high heat and the other for indirect heat. Aim for 120°C on the cooler side.
02 - In a large bowl, gently combine ground chuck, barbecue sauce, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Avoid overmixing. Shape the mixture into 2 patties, each approximately 225 g and 2 cm thick.
03 - Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
04 - Place burger patties on the cooler side of the grill. Cover and allow to cook for 10 minutes. Flip patties and cook for an additional 5 minutes, until nearly at desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer to monitor internal temperature.
05 - Transfer patties to the hot side of the grill. Sear for 1-2 minutes per side until a crust forms. Top each patty with a slice of pepper jack cheese and allow to melt.
06 - Place each patty onto a toasted bun. Add extra barbecue sauce and your favorite toppings. Serve immediately.

04 - Experiment with your favorite barbecue sauce and toppings to personalize flavor.
