With a fork, pierce each sweet potato 8–10 times around the surface to allow steam to escape during cooking.

Rub each potato evenly with olive oil, then sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper to taste.

Arrange sweet potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook at 200°C for 25 minutes, turning halfway through. Test doneness by inserting a knife—it should glide easily to the centre. Add 5–15 minutes for larger potatoes as needed.

Once cooked, carefully cut a lengthwise slit down the centre of each potato. Fluff the interior with a fork and top with a pat of butter if desired. Serve immediately while hot.
